I have been shooting at Wekiwa Springs State Park lately as part of a personal project. It is just lovely almost year round. The only exception: ridiculously hot days where bugs do what they do best.
A lot of people immediately think of Disney when they think of Florida. But there is so much more to it than that. On one of my first visits, my then-girlfriend (now wife) took me canoeing at Wekiwa Springs. There’s so much to explore. And much to avoid. Hello gators!
Fast forward a few years, and I’m now a regular at the park. It’s the perfect backdrop for all genres of photography. There’s woods, green space, water, bridges, trails. What’s not to love?
By the way, if you do end up shooting at Wekiwa during those blistering hot and buggy days, don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray.
If you see me while I’m out there shooting, please come say hi!
